As of November 2022, 400 chapters have been collected into 37 tankōbon volumes (chapter collections) by Shueisha in Japan. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since March 16, 1998, although the manga has frequently gone on extended hiatuses since 2006. Hunter × Hunter (ハンター×ハンター, Hantā Hantā), pronounced "Hunter Hunter", is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. Hunter × Hunter: The Last Mission (2013).Biscuit was able to teach the strongest characters Nen and proved herself to be as strong, if not stronger, as the main characters of the series.Īnd there are women who break away from the love-interest stereotype, like Melody, who was there to be a friend to Kurapika when he lost control over his rage.Īlthough there are little of them, the women of HxH are all iconic characters who break the boundaries set by the Asian entertainment industry.Hunter × Hunter - Jump Super Anime Tour 98 Neon’s talent for Nen and unique fortune-telling ability was the core of the Nostrade Family’s domination over the mafia community. Girls like Neon and Biscuit work hard to either make themselves or other people happy, all while being recognized as idols to everyone within their industry. There are girls who hold extremely high ranks within the world of HxH. Their underlying loyalty to their teammates show how devoted they are to each other, despite being a gang of thieves and delinquents. The first female character introduced, Mito, was met and gone in the first episode and only came back every few episodes. But, the series tend to show more male characters than females. They showcase characters of all ages, color, abilities, personalities, and purposes. I like to believe that HxH breaks boundaries and exceeds many expectations as shown through their creative setting, multi-dimensional characters, unique plots, and most specifically, their treatment towards female characters. They do everything that a typical shonen series will never dare to do, yet still stand beside the most saturated shonen series ever created. However, unlike classic series that follow the basic shonen formula of writing, HxH follows their own method of storytelling. Hunter x Hunter is one of the most well-known shonen series to date. ![]()
